What did you see in May 2009?

Don't miss the Aquarid meteor shower in May!

5th / 6th May 2009 - Eta Aquarid meteor shower at its peak!

This fantastic sight is the result of small dust particles released by Hailey's Comet. To find this meteor shower you need to be up and out an hour or so before dawn on the 5th or 6th of May and point your telescope at the constellation Aquarius.

Look out for Jupiter this month.

Look for Jupiter towards the end of May.

Towards the end of May you will get a chance to see Jupiter on the eastern horizon just before dawn. Look for Jupiter on the 31st of May at around 3:15am GMT. You will find it to the south east just to the left of the constellation Capricornus. At a magnitude of -2.3 it will be the brightest object in that part of the sky.

If you have the time now, why not take a look at our Jupiter facts page.

If you manage to get any picture please send them in to gallery@WatchTheStars.co.uk along with your name and where the picture was taken.
